Talking with ... Aaron Ward, Red Wings Defenseman
May 22, 2001

Q.  We hear from your teammates that you're the computer guru on the Red Wings.
A.  I don't know if I'd call myself an expert, but yes, I'm pretty experienced and I'm on the computer and the Internet a lot.
Q.  What are some of your favorite sites on the net?
A.  I like to check out eBay and Yahoo. I'm into e-mail and checking out sports sites like ESPN, too.
Q.  I understand you buy a lot of stuff over the Internet.
A.  I've bought wine, checked out various sites for furniture. I do that when I'm on the road -- surf around and find stuff I like. I've spent way too much money on buying stuff online already.
Q.  There's a lot of sports memorabilia on the net. Do you check out any of the stuff they say is autographed by you to see if it's real?
A.  Definitely. There is a lot of bogus stuff out there. I've even had a few people e-mail me to check out something before they buy it so I can tell them if it's real or not. There's been enough stuff that I found to be not real. I always tell people that the autographs that are on eBay or the other sites have a strong chance of being real. It's buyer beware for sure.
